Attitude Adjustments

Thoughts and quotes to elevate your attitude; you may have heard attitude determines your altitude. Reach for the stars.

Attitude

There is a story about a 92-year-old, legally blind woman who, in spite of handicaps, losses and the grief of losing her husband of 70 years, looks at each day as a gift. She said, "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time." The truth is that it is not what happens to you but how you perceive it that determines your attitude. It is all about how you "arrange your mind."

This week marks one year since the tragic event that shook the world, when the United States was invaded and attacked by terrorists. Some people have chosen to live in fear and sorrow and others have chosen to reassess their values and to re-prioritize their lives to include more love, more giving and more compassion. Look around you at all that you have in your life rather than seeing what you don’t have. It is up to you! Check your attitude and determine to make this day one of joy and gratitude.

Let Your Light Shine

"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in; their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within."

Elizabeth Kübler-Ross

It is easy to sparkle and shine when things are going well. The true measure of a person who is connected to a higher source is to let that light shine even in times of challenge. These are the times when it helps to remember all the good that does exist in your life, the people who love you, the great moments of success that you have experienced, the joy of being alive to see the sunrise and anything else that reminds you that you are special and that your light illumines the world.

Renew your inner light with quiet time, with prayer and meditation and with the intention to recognize the light within all people including yourself. Let your beauty shine through.

Be In the Moment

The best way to maintain any sense of order in these trying times is to be in the moment. That means to be consciously aware of yourself, your surroundings and the people with whom you are interacting at this moment! Decide on action steps that will help you to create and maintain the best life you can imagine and then focus on those steps.

We cannot live in the future or in the past. This is the only moment that we are given for sure and we can consciously choose exactly how we are going to use it. Help yourself be in the moment by lighting a candle and listening to gentle music. Focus on the immediate task at hand. Have gratitude for all the things that are right in your life today.

You have the ability to make the world a little bit better place by being the most loving, compassionate, productive person you can be in this moment.
